Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of patients do you
treat?
We treat people of all ages from all walks of life who are
struggling with addictions, eating disorders and mental health
conditions such as depression and anxiety on an inpatient
basis. Our patients prefer a gender specific setting.
Some of our patients have what is commonly referred to as a dual
diagnosis, which means they have two or more conditions. Due the
comprehensive, holistic nature of our approach and the excellence
of our staff, we often receive referrals from many nationally
recognized treatment centers that are unable to treat patients with
more complicated diagnoses.
What is your treatment
philosophy?
Our first priority is to equip patients with the tools they need
for long-term recovery. This is accomplished by providing extensive
disease education and other life management skills.
The Wekiva Springs approach to wellness is customized, holistic and
multidisciplinary. Interventions may include comprehensive medical
and/or psychiatric evaluations, nutritional education, individual
therapy, group therapy, family therapy, experiential groups,
education groups and medication management. The primary treatment
approach is cognitive behavioral. For those patients with
substance abuse issues or those who are dually diagnosed, a 12-step
program is included in the treatment regimen.
We believe the spiritual component to treatment is very important
and we hope that people of all faiths will be able to reconnect
with their spiritual center at Wekiva Springs.
When a patient completes treatment at Wekiva Springs, it is a new
beginning, but it is just the beginning. Special emphasis is placed
on discharge planning and aftercare Prior to the patient’s
departure, he/she will have developed a specific and
comprehensive physical, emotional and spiritual discharge plan
going forward.
What is your success rate?
Our treatment is effective and the success rate is very high
for patients who:
- Are honest with their physician and staff regarding their
history
- Actively participate in group and individual therapy
- Complete all of the assignments
- Develop a spiritual growth plan
- Follow the physicians orders
- Are committed to restoring important relationships with family
and friends
- Incorporate the appropriate diet and exercise recommendations;
and
- Follow the detailed discharge and aftercare plan
Do you take
insurance?
Absolutely! At Wekiva Springs, we have been successful in working
with many insurance companies to cover partial or total cost of
treatment.
While we are committed to providing quality care to our patients,
we will not compromise treatment based on managed care limitations.
In our experience, it is unfortunate that many insurance companies
do not offer adequate benefits for mental health or behavioral
disorders that require more than 4 - 6 days of inpatient
treatment.
How much is treatment at Wekiva
Springs?
The average price for our highly regarded residential services is
$22,500, which is about $750 per day for a 30 day length of stay.
The cost is all inclusive of physician and examination fees,
medications, room and board, individual, activity, group and family
therapy. The price varies based on the needs of the individual, the
length and intensity of treatment. You will work directly with your
treatment team to determine your length of stay and level of
care.
Why so low compared to other
treatment centers offering comparable services?
Wekiva Springs is part of a larger system of medical, surgical and
behavioral health facilities. Unlike many other facilities, we are
able to take advantage of economies of scale and have a lower cost
structure. We are able to offer complete, compassionate, cutting
edge treatment services to patients at a cost that is
reasonable and affordable.
If my insurance doesn’t cover
treatment, how can I afford it?
Can you afford not to invest in your family and your future? The
personal risks and costs associated with untreated mental illness
or behavioral health issues are high. According to a study by the
University of Maryland, more than half the patients admitted to
general hospitals with mental health issues have concurrent medical
problems.
Not only do you jeopardize important personal and professional
relationships, you put your physical health at risk. Your mental
health treatment deserves the same care as you give to other major
health conditions, many of which may result when mental health
treatment is neglected.
Compare the costs of treatment to the following costs:
-
An emergency room visit due physical the
complications of an eating disorder
-
A liver transplant due to excessive alcohol
abuse
-
The court costs associated with one DUI.
-
Heart attacks and stomach ulcers associated with
untreated stress and depression
What makes Wekiva different
from other treatment centers?
Wekiva Springs offers gender specific treatment for men and
women. Men and women have very different issues and different
treatment needs.
According to the National Women’s Health Report, there are
significant differences between men and women when it comes to
treatment for mental health issues. Women face barriers to
treatment for their disorder including childcare responsibilities
and the stigma of being considered weak rather than sick. Women
have a clearer pattern of self-medication and are more likely to
use a combination of drugs and alcohol.
How will a patient get to Wekiva
Springs?
Our admissions counselors will work with you and your family to
arrange transportation to our facility. We provide transportation
to and from the airport and other arrangements can be made based on
an individual’s needs.
If I refer a patient, how will I
get updated on their progress?
If you are a provider who refers a patient to Wekiva Springs, we
want you to be an integral part of our treatment team. At a
minimum, we will provide you with clinical updates throughout the
treatment process, and will be happy to communicate in a way that
is convenient for
you.
How long do I have to
stay?
At Wekiva Springs Center , we provide customized care to your
individual needs. While we do have basic schedules, each
patient will have a different treatment plan. You will meet with
your treatment team on frequent basis to discuss your needs and you
will jointly determine the length of stay that is optimal for your
recovery.
I don’t feel comfortable sharing a
room. Are private rooms available?
The therapeutic standard common at most behavioral healthcare
facilities is that patients do share rooms. The intent behind this
is entirely for your benefit. As you go through treatment, it will
be important for you to have the support of others around you.
Please know that our staff takes great care in assigning roommates
that we feel will support and enhance your therapeutic process. In
certain instances, a private room may be available. Please discuss
this with your admissions counselor.
