Women's Center Mental Health Track
Philosophy Statement
Wekiva Springs Center is dedicated to women’s mental wellness and
recovery. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and a structured
environment that creates an atmosphere of trust, hope and
healing.
Program Overview
Wekiva Springs Center offers a highly structured mental health and
dual diagnosis track that utilizes a combination of cognitive
behavioral techniques and the 12 step model for treating women who
are experiencing problems with psychiatric illness, trauma related
disorders and/or substance abuse. The programs are designed to
provide the highest level of direct patient care possible. The
approach to wellness is multifaceted and multidisciplinary.
The main modalities include group therapy,
psychoeducational groups, individual crisis management, nutritional
education, activity therapy, family therapy and medical
interventions. Other interventions including one-to-one
individual therapy is determined by physician and/or treatment
team .
Treatment and Discharge Planning
Upon admission to the inpatient program, patients receive a
comprehensive assessment of their mental, physical, social and
spiritual needs by a dedicated team of professionals. The treatment
team led by the attending psychiatrist develops a customized
treatment plan for each woman and meets regularly to update
treatment goals and review each woman’s progress.
The customized program is based on the concept of a therapeutic
community. Women actively participate in gender specific programs
such as diagnosis specific education, medication education,
relationships and boundaries, healthy sexuality, cognitive
distortions, communication, psychology of women, body image and
assertiveness training.
Wekiva Springs recognizes that recovery and healing is a lifelong
process and therefore discharge planning begins at admission. The
treatment team works closely with the patient, family and outside
treatment professionals, when indicated to set realistic goals for
continuing care and to initiate referrals for further services.
