Gender-Specific Treatment

Because men and women experience varying issues and respond to treatment differently, some of our patients benefit from a gender-specific treatment approach.

Women’s Unit

In today’s world, women of all ages face enormous pressure to live up to unrealistic expectations — their own and those of others. Physically, psychologically, socially and emotionally, women deal daily with issues that are different from those of men—and have significantly different responses to problems. Women, and the unique challenges they face throughout their lives, are the sole focus at Wekiva Springs Center. We have been treating women’s health issues since 2005. Healing and wellness are the goal, through treatment offered in a safe and supportive environment.

The Men’s Unit

Pressures of society can take a toll on men’s mental health. Our program specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use and chemical dependency. This unit offers a setting that provides the patient with the utmost confidentiality in a secluded environment that addresses men’s treatment related issues. Gender specific treatment is focused on relationships, communication and anger management.

Our approach to treatment is individualized, holistic, multifaceted and multidisciplinary. Assessments will include comprehensive medical, psychiatric and social evaluations. The assessments will provide a plan to promote mental wellness and recovery. Interventions may include crisis intervention, daily individual consultation with physician, group therapy, family therapy, nutritional education, medication management and recreational therapies.

For Older Adults

Anxiety, depression, grief and loneliness often manifest as psychiatric disorders in mature adults. Combined with medication misuse or alcohol, one can plunge quickly into isolation and depression.

Wekiva Springs Center has created unique inpatient and outpatient programs designed specifically for mature adults with mental health or dual diagnosis disorders. Our therapeutic setting allows our patients to thrive in an intimate, age specific and non-confrontational group of peers.

Our primary goal is to promote the maximum cognitive, social, physical and emotional development to individuals. The objective is to return our patients to their daily life as soon as possible. Our program focuses on a variety of specialized interventions offered in a serene setting that is conducive to individual needs of every patient
