Our Care Givers
Our highly qualified staff was carefully
recruited to provide the comprehensive treatment that is the key to
recovery. Our staff includes highly qualified, experienced
physicians, therapists, nutritionists, and other healthcare
professionals from a wide range of disciplines. When you enter
treatment at Wekiva Springs, you will be cared for by a team of
healthcare professionals dedicated to your recovery.
The primary treatment team includes a physician, a primary
therapist, our Director of Clinical Services, Director of Nursing,
referring professionals, and any other specialists who are involved
on a consulting basis. But the most important member of the team is
YOU, the patient. You will be actively involved in setting
treatment goals. You will hear, first-hand, the recommendations of
the other members of the treatment team.

SHEILA CARR,
LCSW, Chief Operating Officer
Sheila Carr has 18 years of combined experience in direct clinical
services and administration in a behavioral health care setting.
Her wide range of experience includes family, individual and group
counseling in the school, correctional, medical and behavioral
health venues. Sheila received her Master’s Degree in Social
Work from Florida State University and is a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker in the State of Florida. In addition, she is
certified by the State of Florida as a clinical supervisor for
counseling and social work. Over the past 4 years, Sheila has
developed both psychiatric and substance abuse programs for both
inpatient and outpatient services. Sheila has spent the past three
years refining the specialized services at Wekiva Springs.

JOHN TANNER,
D.O., Medical Director
Dr. Tanner is certified in Addiction Medicine, Pain Management and
Forensic Counseling and he is Board Certified in Family Practice.
He has over 20 years of experience working with patients who suffer
from addiction and behavioral problems. Dr. Tanner is a sought
after speaker, who specializes in addictions and the impairment of
licensed professionals. To that end, he has worked as an evaluator
and treatment provider for the Intervention Project for Nurses,
Professionals Resource Network and the Florida Lawyers Assistance
programs. He previously served as the Assistant Medical Director of
Physicians Recovery Network (Currently known as Professionals
Resource Network), and in this role, served as consultant to the
Florida Department of Health, the Department of Business and
Professional Regulation and 34 licensing boards on matters related
to impaired professionals. Dr. Tanner has also helped develop
several treatment programs at various addiction treatment centers,
including gender specific treatment tracks for women.
Dr. Tanner received his undergraduate degrees in the Physician
Assistant Program at Hahnemann Medical College & Hospital and
in Medical Technology at Pennsylvania State University. He
completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine and received post-graduate training through the University
of Florida Residency Programs in Jacksonville.

ATUL SHAH, M.D.,
Director of Psychiatric Services
Dr. Shah serves as the Director of Psychiatric services at Wekiva
Springs. He is board certified by the American Board of Addiction
Medicine, American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, and the
American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Shah has received his
medical education all over the world and completed his residency in
Psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. He has been
in private practice in Jacksonville for over 17 years and has
served on the medical staff of several hospitals in the North
Florida area. Currently, Dr. Shah is exclusively seeing his
inpatients at Wekiva Springs and our sister hospital, Ten Broeck
Jacksonville. His areas of special interest include: psychiatric
pain management, perinatal psychiatric disorders, and consultation
& liaison psychiatry. He specializes in adult and geriatric
patients.

DIANE BARBER
TAYLOR, LCSW, Director of Behavioral Services
Diane Barber Taylor has 19 years of combined experience in direct
clinical services and administration in social service settings.
Her wide range of experience includes working with children and
families, individuals, couples, and group therapy, in schools, the
child welfare system, federal and corporate employee assistance
programs, medical clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and private
practice venues. Diane received her Master’s Degree in Social
Work from the University of Illinois and is a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker in four states including Florida.

CINDY DUNLOP,
RN, Director of Nursing
Cindy Dunlop is a registered nurse who has worked in the
psychiatric field of nursing for over 18 years. She received her
degree in nursing from The University of North Carolina at
Greensboro. Cindy has extensive experience in adolescent
psychiatric nursing, and her knowledge and expertise in this area
has helped the facility develop an excellent residential adolescent
program. Cindy started her nursing career in Jacksonville years
ago, and in 2004, she relocated back to the area to settle
permanently with her family. Her goal is to complete her
Master’s Degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing within
the next two years.

GEORGE
SALLEY—Sr. Perspectives
George M. Salley, Jr. is a licensed mental health counselor who has
worked with senior citizens for 5 years in the Jacksonville area.
He majored in psychology at The University of North Carolina and
received his Master’s degree in mental health counseling from
Campbell University. He helps out with the National Alliance for
the Mentally Ill (NAMI) and Stephen Ministries at area churches. He
has previous work experience in hospice care and employee
assistance counseling. George has lived in Jacksonville since 1999
with his wife of 10 years and their two children.
