Outpatient Programs

Wekiva Springs’s Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Programs are designed to meet the needs of men and women who usually function at a relatively effective level, but are experiencing problems that interfere with their daily lives and affect their family, work, academic pursuits, or interpersonal relationships.

As the patient remains in contact with the stressful situations contributing to the dysfunction, specialized outpatient programs provide the opportunity for issues to be addressed on a day-to-day basis as they occur. This intensive level of care also allows patients to transition from a residential setting to their home environment where they continue in their recovery process.

For Adults

Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs are designed for adults experiencing mental health/addictive disorder problems and have enough support and stability to be at home in the evenings, but require immediate intervention to promote recovery and prevent inpatient stay. These are on and off campus programs that offer the intensity of acute inpatient care without having to stay overnight in the hospital.

Program Benefits:

    • Providing treatment for mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders
    • Stabilization of condition or symptoms that would otherwise result in hospitalization
    • Direct enrollment or transition from a hospital setting
    • Less intensive, less expensive alternative to hospitalization. Patient continues to live at home, but comes to hospital for care
    • Five days a week treatment, with weekly psychiatric oversight and supervision
    • Education and support for family members
    • Two convenient locations-in town and the Beaches area

For Older Adults (New Perspectives)

According to the Mental Health America, suicide rates are highest in the elderly population, which comprises 20% of the general population. Approximately 40% of suicide victims are over 60. After age 75, the rate is three times higher than average, and among white men over 80, it is six times higher than average. Seniors begin to deal with significant grief and loss issues with the death of a spouse or close friend. Additionally, depression due to failing physical health may be a factor in the high suicide rate in elders.

Wekiva Springs in Jacksonville, Florida offers specialized services for both male and female patients over 60 who are struggling with depression and/or substance abuse.

The purpose of the New Perspectives outpatient program is to provide our patients with individualized treatment that will result in the best outcome possible and assist seniors in achieving their highest level of functioning. Our therapeutic environment encourages patients and family members to take active roles in their treatment. At Wekiva Springs, we promote the development of permanent therapeutic and care-giving relationships with other providers of community resources and services.

Our New Perspective Programs are covered by Medicare and can be accessed by contacting our Admissions Department.
